The Espona, Centre de la dansa tradicional catalana aims to provide a basic space from which to promote the creation, research, training and dissemination of traditional Catalan dance.
This pioneer equipment in Catalonia, managed by the City of Ruby, is an open, dynamic, integrated in the host city, enhances participation diferents agents involved in the dance world and its citizens to everyone can enjoy the traditional Catalan dance.

The town of Ruby has been chosen to host the headquarters of the Centre of the traditional Catalan dance, mainly by the existence in the town of one of the more established Esbarts and most prestigious in the country: Esbart Dansaire Rubi, an important piece of identity for the city of which has helped to spread and entrench traditional dance among the citizenry. In Ruby are also the School of Flor de Neu i Sardanes entity Sardana Building, with over 80 years of history. 

Every year the group organises "Rubifolk" an important International Folk Dance Festival in the city.

L'Espona is open to all entities and associations linked to the traditional Catalan dance, dancers, teachers, theorists and researchers interested in the world of traditional dance, and so on. For their logistical, educational, or promotional documentary,  needs among others.

HISTORY
The center is located in the building Espona Rubí, built in 1945 as Cal Gaspà factory, devoted to cotton and artificial silk. In the early 1970's was acquired by J. Espona which removed the looms and the ships devoted entirely to spinning. The Espona operated until late 1980, and subsequently acquired per l'INCASOL fou, which brought down much for housing.
The year 2005 was restored to become a municipal exhibition hall, and up to 2009 temporarily hosted various exhibitions and works by artists from the likes of James Muxart, Francisco de Goya, Salvador Dali and Joan Brossa, among others.
During 2010 there have been works of adequacy of space to turn the building into the current Espona, Centre de la dansa tradicional catalana.
